World Solo Drumming Championships 2017
Ten of the bands drummers took to the stage at the 2017 World Solo Drumming Championships on Saturday 21st October, held at Glasgow Caledonian University. There was success for members across the Juvenile and Adult grades. Snare drummer Ryan Green was crowned World Champion in the Juvenile 5 category, with Blair Logan finishing a commendable 5th. Ryan is pictured below shortly after the prize giving with his trophy:
The band was represented by six of the bands snare drummers in the adult grade, with four gaining qualification through to the semi-final stage. A great achievement in an extremely competitive field. Well done to all.
Kirsty McCron and Shannon Davies also represented the band in the International Solo Tenor Drumming Championships, finishing in 4th and 6th positions respectively, in the Juvenile 5 MSR section. A very well done to you both!
A special thank you must go to all of the band’s pipers that accompanied our drummers at the Championships. A big thank you to you all from all of the drummers!
Attention now turns to the bands new music in preparation for the 2018 competition season. We are all looking forward to getting down to business soon!
